Who's in the suit

The name is Spade.

Dance-pop artist, sharp dresser, reluctant superstar. Here's the short version, plus the story behind the underscore.

Spade lowering his aviators beside a roaring cheetah in gold chains

Yes, that's a cheetah. Yes, those are real chains.

The short version

Party music,
tailored.

Spade_ makes dance-pop: big hooks, bigger drops, and a sense of humor about the whole thing. He shows up in a three-piece suit and aviators because a party is an occasion and occasions deserve effort.

He never set out to be a superstar. The songs had other plans. His debut album, Silicon Party, is out now on every platform.

How the name happened

A name in four acts

  1. Act I · SpadeIt started as a nickname. It stuck, the way the good ones do.
  2. Act II · The underscoreTime to release music. iTunes looked at the existing pile of Spades and said no more. So: Spade_. Same guy, one extra keystroke.
  3. Act III · “DJ Spade”The album cover went out reading “DJ Spade.” He is not a DJ, and that is not his name. It's on the cover forever now, and honestly it's a great cover.
  4. Act IV · spade.musicEvery good domain was taken. Then this one wasn't. Welcome.
